The skin underneath my watchband has been developing a rash over the last month or so. I switched the wrist that I wear my watch on, and soon thereafter the rash popped up again. I’ve had the band for almost three months though and I have never noticed this problem before. Do you know what it might be? Is it probably totally unrelated to my watchband?
Nobody likes a mystery rash!
There are a few possibilities:
- You may be allergic or sensitive to the watch band material
- You have increasingly sensitive skin over the past month
- You are not drying the skin under your watch when you wash your hands.
Even combining all of the possibilities, if you make sure there is not damp skin or a damp watchband next to your skin you will likely see the rash decrease or disappear.
If the rash does not go away, you may need to see a health care practitioner for assessment and prescription cream.
